Uzbek Banking Association will be the local partner and will take up to 29% of the company.

Project Cost Including proposed IFC investment

The total project cost is expected to be: US$17.5 Million of which IFC investment will be up to US$1.0 million for a 20% stake in the equity capital. An “A” loan of up to US$5.0 million for the account of IFC and a “B” loan of up to US$5.0 million for the account of a participant.

Location of project and Description of site

The Company will be established in Tashkent, Republic of Uzbekistan.

Description of Company and Purpose of Project

UzCase AgroLeasing (UCA, the Company) will be established as the first agricultural leasing company in Uzbekistan. The project involves the establishment of a specialized company for leasing of farm equipment and machinery to help develop the agricultural sector in Uzbekistan. The project will help alleviate the scarcity of credit available to private farms which have evolved following agricultural privatization in Uzbekistan and whose access to term financing for puchase of equipment has been heavily curtailed by the insolvency of the state-owned sectoral banks servicing the agricultural sector.

Environmental Category and Issues

This is a category FI project according to IFC’s Environmental Unit. UCA will be required to put in place an environmental risk management system for relevant projects. In addition, IFC will assess UCA’s capability to implement the system.
