Type Company Limited, one of Ghana’s leading graphic design and printing company is a family owned business established in November 1993. Its core business at the time was desktop publishing and graphic designing. Type Company Limited entered into a first lease in May 1999 in a bid to facilitate its expansion and growth strategy. It entered into a lease agreement with Horizon Finance & Leasing Company Ltd (HFCL) for a Heidelberg Kord printer worth GHC 75,000,000.
In August 2001, Type entered into a second lease agreement with HFCL to acquire a Cutting Machine, Stitching Machine and a Folding Machine all valued at GHC 69,846,500. To ensure a guaranteed and sustainable growth, Type has entered into a Master Lease arrangement with HFCL through which the company is able to draw down to acquire various types of equipment as and when the need arises.
Position of Type in 1999:
Type was operating from two rented offices with different department at different location. Operating from two different locations came with some inconveniences that reduced overall efficiency. The company’s turnover in 1999 was ¢587,334,873 with a Net Profit after Tax of ¢15,660,097. Total staff strength of the company was eight (8) in 1999.
Current Situation:
Through the company’s expansion programme and support from Horizon and other financial institutions, the company acquired new office block which houses all its offices and production areas. In 2004, the company recorded a Turnover of ¢6,200,122,000 with a Net Profit after Tax of ¢569,392,000. Staff strength has now increased to twenty-eight (28).
The company is currently rolling out new products that are relatively new to the sub-region. Among some of the new products is Security Printing for the increased banking Community, Label Printing for industries and Printing of Books for Ministry of Education, etc.
