Between February and May 2006, the Program commissioned consultants to undertake a survey to assess the state of the leasing industry in Ghana. The survey included a market review of the finance leasing sector up to 2005 as well as a review of the legislative, regulatory, accounting, and tax environment affecting leasing in Ghana.
At the end of the survey, a report “Leasing in Ghana: A Survey of the Leasing Market was published. On August 22, 2006, the program officially presented the report of the market survey to stakeholders at a conference. The conference was addressed by the program donors, SECO, after which a presentation on the highlights of the survey was made. The survey has generated strong interest from the business community, and over 400 copies have been distributed. Since its publication, there have been several enquiries from potential lessees seeking financing.
