Program Launched

The IFC Rwanda CEDP Leasing Development Program was launched on March 15 2007, at an event presided over by the Minister of Finance and Economic Planning. Other notable guests included the Governor, Ministers of state, representatives from all banks, the donor community, insurance companies, manufacturers and government institutions.

The Leasing Program aims to create new financing opportunities for businesses in Rwanda by promoting leasing as an alternative financing mechanism. The Program is supported by the government of Rwanda, through the Competitiveness and Enterprise Development Project, and the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Netherlands through the Netherlands-IFC Partnership Program.

Speaking at the launch, IFC Senior Manager, Eastern Africa Region, Jean Philippe prosper said, "IFC’s new advisory service program directly supports the government of Rwanda’s economic priorities by creating opportunities for increased private sector investment in the country."
