Technical Assistance

IFC offers a range of technical assistance and business advisory services in support of private sector development in developing countries. These efforts are funded by donor countries and from IFC’s own resources.

These activities serve many of IFC’s objectives: for example, supporting small and medium enterprises, improving the regulatory environment in developing countries, broadening access to finance, assisting in restructuring and privatizing state-owned enterprises, and promoting public-private partnerships. Many projects are closely connected to IFC’s commercial investments. Other services are provided on a stand-alone basis.

Donor trust funds and IFC’s own funding mechanism for technical assistance are managed by:

IFC's Trust Funds Department

Coordination among IFC’s regional facilities, all of which support development of small and medium enterprises, is provided by:

Small and Medium Enterprise Department

Donor-supported facilities include the following:

Regional
Global/Thematic
Donor agencies to facilities and trust funds are closely involved in decisions about which technical assistance projects should be taken on. Prospective clients may also contact the individual facilities directly to request assistance.
