Archived Consultation Process Information: Introduction

This section archives all information related to IFC’s eight-month consultation process, which ended in April 25, 2005.

The consultation documents provide the public with important context and background on the latest drafts of the new Sustainability Policy and Performance Standards and draft Disclosure Policy.

Regional Consultation Workshops
IFC convened four regional consultation workshops in Rio de Janeiro, Manila, Nairobi, and Istanbul. Summary reports for each workshop are available.

Topic Specific Meetings
IFC held topic specific meetings to discuss issues such as labor standards, Indigenous Peoples' rights, biodiversity, and the role of the private sector in Human Rights.

Stakeholder Outreach
IFC organized meetings with particular stakeholder groups who we may not have been able to participate in the regular consultation process, such as representatives of international civil society, Equator Principles Banks, and IFC clients.

E Discussion on Disclosure Policy
IFC conducted a fact-finding exercise that engaged government, civil society, and private sector stakeholders through a two-week online discussion about disclosure and IFC’s policy.

Consultation Advisories
The advisories were the primary vehicle for updating the public on the Policy Update and Review
