"The Policy and Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability was the first time that IFC articulated in a single document our development and sustainability mandates.
The review and update of the Policy and Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability reflects IFC's commitment to keeping pace with an ever evolving environment.
In the last three years, we have learned a lot about their applicability from our clients, from our partners, from other users of them and from communities impacted by our projects. We have shared our knowledge and experience with other financial institutions who have adopted similar standards such as the 68 Equator Principles Financial Institution Banks.
We will take into account the knowledge gained from these exchanges and experiences in the review our Sustainability Framework, a process that wouldn't be complete without the series of consultations we will be having with a wide range of stakeholders throughout the next 18 months.
We are offering various ways for anyone interested in participating to provide advice and comments, and will make ourselves available to answer any questions there may be along the way.
We value and appreciate the time every one will take to help us increase the effectiveness of our Standards and look forward to a successful collaboration!"
