Inhutani II Acacia Forest is Managed Environment Friendly: IFC-PENSA has successfully provided assistance to Inhutani II to be a member of the WWW-GFTN for developing a 50,000 hectare forest land with Acacia mangium. IFC-PENSA Program Manager Moray McLeish said that the recognition is important for the forestry and furniture industries because it can be used as a proof to international markets’ skepticism on Indonesia’s ability to provide sustainable timber.IFC-PENSA also helps market furniture products made from Acacia to international markets

Women - Supports Economy but Ignored — There are many women who only need a million or two to expand their business, but can not do so because they do not have access to finance. One source is a research recently held by IFC-PENSA on 70 women emphasized the importance of women as one of the stakeholders in development. One of the problems also stated in the research is that strong culture believes that women should manage the household. Therefore it is not possible for women to focus fully on large businesses, but small businesses because it allows them to divide time with family.

IFC Gives ideas for Maize Industry — South Sulawesi Governor Amin Syam formalized a partnership on agribusiness plasma center managed by IFC-PENSA with farmer group, drying company CV Mas, Charoen Pokhpand and Mandiri Syariah at Bantaeng. The partnership is managed by IFC-PENSA, especially in the maize sector. “Maize/corn is South Sulwesi’s main commodity that is strategic and economical. Local governments like us support efforts by IFC-PENSA in developing that market, especially for our Golden Harvest program” said Amin Syam. IFC-PENSA microfinance for agribusiness officer Aswad Bandie also mentioned that IFC-PENSA is facilitating loan for micro agribusinesses in the corn/maize industry through Mandiri Syariah bank.
