Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a communications strategy for IFC Indonesia and provide overall management and direction to the communication team
- Initiates and sustains effective professional relationships with key internal and/or external constituencies (the media, civil society, academia, businesses, local government agencies, etc.) to identify opportunities for possible strategic partnerships and to strengthen IFC’s overall effectiveness and image in Indonesia
- Establish strong relationships with project teams and contribute to project outcomes through development of dissemination and communication plans
- Proactively plans, designs, executes, and monitors media and public relations strategies and campaigns in Indonesia on behalf of IFC
- Oversees planning, coordination, scheduling and logistics (often across multiple teams) for press briefings, major conferences and seminars, public or broadcast appearances, and other communications-related activities sponsored by IFC
- Writes, produces, and disseminates communications products (press releases, speeches, power-point presentations, and other promotional materials) that are strategic, consistently on-message, and serve a wide range of audiences
- Monitors and analyzes current events and public and press opinion with a view to risk management. Advises relevant IFC staff and clients on trends, news developments, or changing/unexpected circumstances that may impact IFC and its work, and helps to determine appropriate strategic responses to address them
- Routinely addresses internal and external target audiences on IFC policies and positions that are sometimes complex and/or sensitive, via media briefings, conferences, etc. Routinely gives presentations and/or represents the Bank at external events of small- to medium-sized target groups
- Works independently, seeking guidance on complex projects/issues from more senior staff
The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:
- A minimum of ten years of work experience in media relations, public relations, journalism, with strong knowledge of development work and private sector issues in Indonesia
- Degree in journalism, communications, public policy, business or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
- Exceptional ability to write and communicate in English; fluency in Bahasa Indonesian is required
- Excellent computer skills; ability to use standard technology packages, e.g., Word, Lotus Notes, PowerPoint, Internet, and Excel
- Ability to operate under pressure and tight deadlines with accuracy and professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a willingness to work in a diverse team environment
- Overseas work experience and demonstrated aptitude for communicating about international finance is strongly preferred
- Previous experience with a multilateral or international organization is preferred
- Graphic design/publishing skills are an asset
