Fiji Tourism Investment Workshop
In May 2005, PEDF and Fiji’s Ministry of Tourism joined forces to develop and conduct an intensive Tourism Investment Workshop for investors, the major banks, developers, resort managers, international development agencies, government agencies and industry specialists. The aim of the workshop was to raise the level of knowledge of each of the roles played in the sector.
There is a considerable amount of liquidity available for investment in tourism in Fiji and the government has ambitious plans for the industry’s future. However, PEDF is concerned that a flow of funds into the industry could be hindered and growth could be hampered by a lack of understanding of the complex inter-relationships vital to the sector’s success. PEDF and the Fiji Ministry of Tourism believes the Fiji Tourism Investment Workshop succeeded in its objectives and that tangible benefits in the form of increased capital flows into the development of the country’s tourism sector will become evident in the years ahead.
