Since IFC started investing in the West Bank & Gaza in 1995, the Corporation has committed about $51 million, of which $31 million in long-term funding and $23 million in equity investments. Since the outbreak of the second “Intifada” in September 2000, the political and economic conditions in the West Bank & Gaza have continuously deteriorated, thus limiting IFC's ability to invest in the country. However, the Corporation has continued to provide advisory services to promote private sector development in the country.
