Donors Supporting IFC Advisory Services in MENA

IFC enjoys an excellent relationship with its donors and highly values their continued support. Donors are vital partners for IFC in delivering its broader mission of reducing poverty and improving people’s lives through sustainable private sector investment.

The support of donors not only leverages IFC’s own contributions to advisory services, but also enhances the impact of IFC ’s operations through strengthened collaboration. IFC ensures this collaboration is mutually beneficial by aligning its priorities with the interests of donors.

In the Middle East and North Africa, IFC's Advisory Services - PEP-MENA - was established with an initial target budget of $65 million, to which donors committed $45 million and IFC contributed $20 million of its own funds.

In fiscal year 2008, signed commitments from donors increased by $3.6 million. Over the past two years, IFC has continued to make project-specific contributions totaling $3 million. In addition, $2.7 million of project-level funding was committed through PEP-MENA’s partnerships with other institutions and agencies. Examples of such partnerships include bilateral donor agencies such as Switzerland’s SECO, the Government of the Netherlands, USAID, and Denmark’s DANIDA. These types of partnerships enhance overall project structure and developmental impact.

IFC PEP-MENA is currently looking to raise additional funds, through consultations with potential new donors, to support its operations in the region.
