IFC's portfolio investments in Algeria are in the financial sector, manufacturing, oil and gas, and chemicals.
In fiscal 2007, IFC committed $11 million for the Maghreb Leasing project.
In fiscal 2006, IFC committed three projects in Algeria from none in fiscal year 2005:
- $24 million equity in Fertial, a privatized fertilizer company
- $10 million quasi-equity in RedMed, a logistics firm supporting oil companies
- $12 million in Maghreb Invest II, a private equity fund
In fiscal 2008, several investments are expected in the retail, leasing, financial sectors, oil and gas, and petrochemicals.
