Launch of the International Garment and Textile Training Center

Ho Chi Minh City, 28 February, 2006 — The International Garment and Textile Training Center (IGTC) will help Vietnam’s garment industry compete effectively in the global market. The Center is dedicated to improving managerial capacity through training and consulting services in four crucial areas: production management; marketing & merchandising; human resources management; and sustainability/corporate social responsibility.

Between 2004 and 2007, MPDF, New Zealand's International Aid and Development Agency (NZAID) and Danish International Development Assistance (DANIDA) are jointly providing technical assistance to help IGTC develop curriculum, train staff and associate trainers, and build IGTC’s operational and managerial capacity.

IGTC’s state-of-the art programs include: marketing & merchandising; production management; productivity improvement; design and product development; compliance with international codes of corporate social responsibility; trading requirements; and computer-aided textile & garment design & manufacturing.

IGTC’s target participants include: experienced garment factory middle managers, line leaders and supervisors working in areas that include: production, planning, human resources, quality assurance/quality control, marketing, sales and merchandising; recent university, college and technical school graduates with textile, garment, business or other relevant majors who need hands-on training and experience; college instructors and garment industry trainers who want to expand their industry knowledge and/or improve their training skills.
