The Mekong Private Sector Development Facility (MPDF) has been conducting applied research since 1997 to better understand the business climate and the needs of entrepreneurs. MPDF uses these studies to plan its own programs, but also publishes and distributes its findings widely to the private sector, government, and donor agencies to promote dialogue and reform. MPDF’s publications are available in print as well as on this website, and most are available in both English and the respective national language.
The Private Sector Discussion Paper series summarizes the findings and recommendations from MPDF’s research studies. To date, 21 Private Sector Development (PSD) Papers have been published on a wide range of private sector issues.
The Business Issues Bulletin is published in Vietnam and Cambodia every two months and quarterly in Lao PDR. In addition to providing a comprehensive summary of an important private sector issue, each Bulletin presents opinions from a range of local stakeholders that include government, the business community and international experts. The Markets and Development Bulletin (MDB) is published every quarter in Vietnam and focuses on issues more relevant to small and informal enterprises, and those located in the provinces.
The Business Issues Bulletins in Vietnam and Lao PDR are published in partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the MDB in Vietnam is published in partnership with the Asian Development Bank’s "Making Markets Work for the Poor" program.
