May 12, 2009—In collaboration with the World Bank's infoDev, IFC has launched a Web site to invite online discussion on technology transfer development of research institutions and to share a study that highlights challenges of technology commercialization in emerging markets and how to tackle them.
Technology transfer is the process of sharing knowledge and technologies among institutions that can further develop the technology into new products or services. It represents a commitment to improving the public good by creating new businesses and jobs.
Key features of the new site include:
- A downloadable framework study
- Analysis of the United States' technology transfer model, and its application in emerging markets
- Online discussions that explore how developing countries can best facilitate technology transfer from research institutions
This initiative is part of the Technology Transfer Facility, an IFC innovation fund program. To learn more or join the discussion, visit
