The Banker magazine has named IFC's Amazônia bond one of its deals of the year, recognizing our innovation in opening a new market for foreign issuers of local currency debt in Brazil. This is the third award that IFC's Amazônia bond has received from prestigious international publications; International Finance Review and Latin Finance magazine also recognized it among their awardees of the year.
The Banker noted that 2007 was a busy year for groundbreaking financial transactions in Brazil, including a large number of initial public offerings, but said that IFC's Amazônia bond was at the top of the list.
The Amazônia bond made IFC the first international issuer to tap Brazil's domestic market, and it helped establish a legal framework that will allow other foreign issuers to go into Brazil.
