IFC currently holds a committed portfolio of over half a billion in investments in transportation services projects (airlines, shipping, and railways). We can consider greenfield projects, corporate loans, acquisition finance, refinancings, and a variety of contractual structures, including concessions, BOTs, and public-private partnerships.
Volga Shipping and North-Western Shipping - Russia IFC intends to lend $50 million for its own account and syndicate an additional $40 million to partially finance the vessel renewal program of Volga Shipping Company and North-Western Shipping Company. The program involves the construction of up to eight new dry-cargo river-capable short-sea vessels, as well as up to eight new dry-cargo short-sea vessels. IFC provided a loan of $24.7 million, a quasi-equity investment of $10 million, and syndicated a loan of $35.3 million to UP Offshore, a shipping group with subsidiaries incorporated in Brazil and Panama. The investment was used by UP Offshore to acquire up to six newly built platform supply vessels to provide transportation services to oil and gas companies engaged in exploration and production activities on the Brazilian Atlantic shelf. Berlian Laju Tanker - Indonesia IFC provided a loan of $22 million, an equity investment of $20 million, and a syndicated loan of $68 million to finance the fleet expansion and modernization program of PT Berlian Laju Tanker, one of the largest Indonesian shipping companies specializing in carrying oil products, asphalt, edible oils, chemicals and liquefied petroleum gas. UABL River Barges - Latin America IFC provided a loan of $20 million, an equity investment of $5 million, and a syndicated loan of $10 million to finance the expansion of UABL’s barge and tug fleet, as well as its loading terminal network. UABL Limited is the largest barge operator on the Paraná-Paraguay river system. |
