Airports

IFC has committed about $1 billion in investments worldwide in transportation infrastructure projects (ports, airports, and toll roads). Our projects include project financing for greenfield facilities, corporate loans, and refinancing of bridge loans in a variety of contractual structures, including full concessions, BOTs, and others.


Recent Projects


Montego Bay - Jamaica
IFC provided a total of $45 million for its own account in financing to MBJ Airports Limited. MBJ operates the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, Jamaica, under a 30-year build-operate-transfer concession granted by the Airports Authority of Jamaica in 2003. IFC’s financing is being used to help expand and improve the existing terminal to increase the airport’s capacity to handle approximately 5 million passengers annually.


Cambodia Airports – Cambodia
IFC has provided $10 million for its own account in financing to Société Concessionnaire de l’Aéroport (SCA). SCA holds a 25-year concession from the Cambodian government to operate and expand the Phnom Penh International Airport and the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, the only two international airports in the country. IFC funding is being used to fund capital expenditures at the two airports, including a new terminals, the lengthening and widening of runways, the construction of new taxiways and other works.
