Overview

At the World Bank - International Monetary Fund Annual Meetings which took place in Istanbul in October 2009, IFC presented an issue brief on the The Business of Health in Africa: Partnering with the Private Sector to Improve People’s Lives report and the IFC-World Bank Health in Africa Initiative. The issue brief provided information and key findings contained in the report as well as other recent developments. To respond to these findings and help Africa address its health care challenges, IFC and the World Bank are working with international donors, African policy makers, financial intermediaries, local business people, and other stakeholders. IFC and its partners expect to mobilize up to $1 billion of investment advisory services support over the next five years.
