IFC seeks to partner with strong, stable firms that have an understanding of local and regional markets, a track record of success, and an abiding commitment to transparent corporate governance, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
We look for:
- Investments in companies manufacturing pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biopharmaceuticals, and vaccines that have strong potential in innovation or cost competitiveness
- Opportunities to finance companies seeking to upgrade production facilities and processes for access to regulated or donor-funded markets
- Companies that are building local manufacturing capacity, particularly in Africa, to enhance the availability of life sciences products
- Projects in related industries, such as drug retail or wholesale distribution, to expand access to products
- Innovative companies aiming to increase product access through research and development or new product development using a viable and sustainable business mode
- Private equity funds investing in early- or later-stage development projects where there are technical risks, but where success could lead to significant development impact in the fight against diseases
- Partnerships with organizations working with the public health community to increase the viability of businesses in developing countries, especially in the area of neglected diseases
