Cosmo Film is India’s largest manufacturer of biaxially oriented polypropylene films (BOPP films), mainly used for packaging, lamination, tapes, and labeling. IFC made a $4 million equity investment in support of Cosmo’s growth efforts in 2004. This was a second investment, following a $10 million loan in 2002. The company, one of the lowest cost BOPP film producers in the world, focuses on new technology as a means to retain its competitive edge. A recognized domestic leader, Cosmo is playing an important role in upgrading the entire domestic BOPP industry as it sets high standards for quality, research and development, productivity, and focused customer support.
