For the AES Corporation, developed and organized training for more than 100 staff members. Received a prestigious Muskie Fellowship to study in the United States. Trained in the UK for Business Process Reengineering.

Legal Consultant
A legal expert with 7 years of experience in company law and commercial law, including work with leading local private, governmental and international organizations in Georgia and the United Kingdom. Served as the Business and Company Law Specialist of USAID Business Climate Reform Project, participating in legislative development of Georgian business environment. Previously worked as the Head of the Law Department of the Georgia Maritime Transport Administration. Main duties at Georgia-European Policy and Legal Advice Centre (GEPLAC) included providing legal advice to GoG counterparts on issues such as implementation of Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA) and fulfillment of obligations assumed with regard to accession to the WTO. Kakha has participated in broad variety of key commercial framework legislation including laws governing company liquidation and bankruptcy issues, simplification of company registration procedures, and registration of immovable property; participated in drafting of e-signature law. As a member of the Mgaloblishvili, Kipiani, Dzidziguri law firm, participated in number of projects and lawsuits involving arbitration proceedings, legal examination on issues such as loans, mortgages, assignment of rights, share sale-purchase, settlements, etc.

Legal Consultant
After winning a scholarship from BP and the British Council in Georgia, Boris Janjalia received a Master’s degree with commendation in International Commercial Law at the University of Aberdeen in the UK. During this one-year program Boris took courses in Corporate Governance, Oil and Gas Law (from the contractual as well as state control perspective), trade and finance law. From 2004 – 2006 he worked as the Head of the Legal Department in the Financial Monitoring Service at the National Bank of Georgia. He was mainly responsible for legal support of FMS activities, state acquisitions and relations with contractors, as well as for harmonization of Georgian legislation with international standards related to illicit income legalization and terrorism financing. Prior to that, Boris Janjalia worked in the Ministry of Internal Affairs as the Head of the Analysis and Forecasting Department. He graduated from the Law Faculty of I. Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and Faculty of Banking, Financing and Management of the Tbilisi State Institute of the Economic Relations.

Banking/Finance Specialist
With more than 10 years of working experience in banking, including work with commercial bank, central bank and international organization in Georgia. Prior to joining the Project, Mariam headed Bank Methodology Division of Supervision Department of National Bank of Georgia, responsible for developing regulations, manuals and guidelines for commercial banks. She worked as Financial Annalist for Banking Supervision and Enforcement Project at USAID. She also has 4 years working experience in commercial bank. Mariam graduated from the department of economics (specialized in banking) of Tbilisi State University. She also received diploma in Financial Management from Maastricht School of Management.

 | SOPHIE LALIEVA
Financial Disclosure Specialist
Sophie Lalieva holds a BBA degree from the European School of Management. She has more than nine years of experience in auditing and financial consulting. Before joining IFC, Sophie occupied the position of the Audit Senior Manager at Deloitte office in Tbilisi. Her prior experience also comprises of working at Ernst and Young and a local audit company representing Andersen in Georgia. Sophie's client portfolio included financial service, manufacturing, telecommunication, energy, hotel industry, government and non governmental sectors. Sophie provided clients with auditing, consulting and financial advisory services. Having served as a talent leader and the head of the audit department at Deloitte Tbilisi office, Sophie has extensive experience in recruiting, staff training, budgeting and strategy planning. Sophie has attended numerous training sessions of Ernst and Young and Deloitte and is certified by the Audit Committee of the Parliament of Georgia in Banking and Insurance Audits.

Operations Analyst
With almost 10 years of working experience in public relations and communications in international-donor organizations, private and public sectors, Nino Kartozia joined the IFC Georgia Corporate Governance Project in the capacity of a Communications Associate. This is a rare combination when professional experience matches with the academic background in PR as she is among the first generation in Georgia holding a degree in PR. During 1997-1998 she won a scholarship from the US government and was an exchange student at Clemson University, South Carolina with an internship at Time Warner Inc.

 | KETEVAN IOVIDZE
Team Assistant
Ketevan Iovidze has been working at the Department for International Development (DFID) of Great Britain for more than two years as a Development Assistant. Close to the termination of the Program her work involved a lot of duties and responsibilities of a Program Officer. In addition to this she was a manager for CSPPRP Project funded by DFID, WB, SIDA etc., and a Communications Officer for the office. As a Communications Officer she wrote several Spotlight (Internal DFID website) articles and was responsible for regular update of DFID’s activities in Georgia at the internal as well as external DFID websites. She is a creator of booklet about DFID’s activities in Georgia covering 1991-2008 years that was distributed at the DFID’s closing ceremony.

Financial Analyst
Mendi is responsible for accounting/financial activities, compiling/controlling budget, payment of accounts, writing financial reports for donors. Mendi’s previous experience includes working in the Office of US Treasury Department, at the Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia, International Rescue Committee (IRC). She is a student of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). She holds Master’s degree in Public Administration received at the Georgian-American Institute of Public Administration (GIPA).

 | TORNIKE SHARVADZE
IT Assistant
Tornike Sharvadze has a technical background holding a degree in physics and computer science from Tbilisi State University. While still a university student, he was working in a private company GIS-Lab providing GIS and IT support. He has an experience in dealing with geographic databases, satellite images, raster and vector files, GPS support, analytical work and cartography. Currently he provides IT support to Georgia Corporate Governance Project including operating of the network, installation of the software and the hardware.
