
Gone Rural One of Twelve Finalists in World Challenge

Gone Rural, a small social enterprise providing viable economic opportunities for women through handicraft production in Swaziland, has been selected as one of twelve finalists in The World Challenge competition. The World Challenge, sponsored by BBC World and Newsweek, in association with Shell, solicits projects that have broad, positive social and economic impacts for local communities all over the globe. The winner will receive a $20,000 grant from Shell for their project. The two runners up will each receive $10,000 towards their projects.
From October 7 to November 15, 2006, the twelve finalists will be profiled on theWorldChallenge website and will be featured in six, 30 minutes videos dedicated to the World Challenge, shown on BBC World News. Their stories will also be part of a special advertising series in Newsweek.

- Saturday, October 7, 2006: 11:30h, 18:30h (Swazi time) or 09:30h, 16:30h (GMT)
- Sunday, October 8, 2006: 04:30h, 15:30h, 22:30h (Swazi time) or 02:30h, 13:30h, 20:30h (GMT)
