Digital Divide Data (DDD ) is an information technology outsourcing enterprise, that began in Cambodia in 2001. The organization was created with a social mission to provide new skills and economic opportunities to disadvantaged Cambodians.

DDD trains and hires Cambodians with limited income generating opportunities, many of whom are disabled or rescued from sex trafficking. Today, the enterprise offers universities, companies and NGOs IT services like digitization of records, data entry, image scanning & OCR, editing and XML/HTML tagging and database development support. The initiative is supported by a United States-based international management and sales team, and has secured several contracts in North America, including the libraries of the University of Chicago and the University of Canada.

DDD has committed to improving the livelihoods of its employees by offering them extensive health and education benefits, including scholarships to attend school and career counseling.



Areas of Assistance

The International Finance Corporation's (IFC) Grassroots Business Initiative (GBI) is working closely with the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility to help DDD expand its operations and improve its corporate governance.

Areas of Assistance:

  • Training local staff to take over DDD’s management from expatriate advisers
  • Hiring an expert to improve the accuracy of data entry, to meet international standards
  • Providing a grant to fund technology upgrades and a working capital loan to facilitate expansion
