CraftNetwork is a Design and Export Promotion Center for handicrafts, striving to provide international buyers with an efficient way of sourcing unique high quality handicrafts products from Cambodian and Indonesian producers. At the same time, the Center seeks to strengthen the skills of the producer organizations it works with. In this way, the Center hopes to help increase Cambodian & Indonesian exports of handicrafts, spurring increased incomes and jobs in the sector.


Areas of Assistance

The Grassroots Business Initiative is working in close collaboration with the Mekong Private Sector Development Facility in Cambodia, and IFC-PENSA in Indonesia, which will soon be transitioning to a private sector partner in Bali, to develop a full-scale design and export promotion center, assisting grassroots producer organizations with design, productivity and production capacity enhancement, quality assurance, business development and export promotion. Physical and virtual showrooms are also being set up to offer buyers an easy way to evaluate and compare products.

Additional project activities include:

• Sponsoring a mentoring program that would match CraftNetwork's mebers with long-term mentors, who will provide strategic and business planning advice.
• Establishing a working capital facility with ACLEDA (a Cambodian bank specializing in mico, small and medium enterprises), that will provide loans to CraftNetwork's GBO producers who otherwise would have limited or no access to financing primarily due to lack of collateral
