Regional Strategies

Progress to Date

IFC has a wide-range of footprint programs in each office- ranging from sporadic activities led by volunteer staff to developed programs and action plans driven by dedicated staff. Footprint Program provides technical assistance to Champions to implement footprint best practices in their offices and adapt the corporate footprint priorities to their regional context.

In 2008, the Middle East and North Africa (CME) regionsuccessfully launched a regional strategy and work-plan. The strategy is being implemented by 11 Country Office Champions, and includes raising awareness, implementing "10 easy things," community service, data collection, and communications and networking.

Building from CME's pilot to implement a footprint strategy, Footprint will work with additional regions in fiscal year 2009 to launch a regional footprint plan. For each region, this will include:

  1. identifying a Regional Champion to identify and coordinate Office Champions
  2. creating a formal regional strategy and work plan, including timelines and responsibilities
  3. achieving priority outcomes which will most likely include raising awareness and implementing basic and innovative footprint activities
