Caring for the Environment

IFC is committed to minimizing the negative direct impacts on the physical environment due to the operations of our buildings and daily work habits. Two achievements in 2010 that reflect upon this commitment include:

  • IFC's headquarters building in D.C. has been awarded the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Platinum Certification for Existing Buildings by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) - known as LEED-EB v3. This is the most prestigious rating given to existing buildings for maximizing operational efficiency and minimizing environmental impacts.
  • IFC won the "DC Mayor's Environmental Excellence Award" for Outstanding Achievement by a Large Business from the District Department of the Environment (DDOE). This award recognizes companies for environmental stewardship, innovative best practices, pollution prevention and resource conservation.
