This session focused on e-business registries and their importance to private sector development. Several case studies from the region were presented and discussed, and other cases from Europe and beyond were explored.
Business registries have multiple benefits in accelerating and streamlining administrative processes, as well as improving transparency, accuracy and security of data and transactions, thereby yielding efficiency gains in various procedures and generally improving the business environment for domestic and foreign investors.
The participants in the session presented and discussed several themes, among them products and services offered by business registries, public-private partnerships in the implementation of e-BRs, and how e-BRs fit into the e-government agenda. The case studies showed the importance of service-oriented management processes and high-quality information technology in establishing modern business registries.
