Doing Business in Mexico - English Version (2007)

Doing Business in Mexico is the first state-level report of the Doing Business series in Latin America. Doing Business investigates the scope and manner of regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it. The report finds that some states compare well with the best of the world, while others need much reform to become globally competitive. Doing Business in Mexico 2007 gives federal, state, and local policymakers the ability to measure regulatory performance against other states and countries, learn from global and national best practices, and prioritize reforms.

Doing Business investigates the scope and manner of regulations that enhance business activity and those that constrain it. In this project quantitative indicators on business regulations and their enforcement were created for 12 municipalities and states. These can now compare themselves to São Paulo or any of the 12 cities and states benchmarked in Mexico, as well as to over 150 countries around the world. The report covers five topics: starting a business, registering property, getting credit, paying taxes and enforcing contracts.
