Eligibility Qualifications

INSTITUTIONAL ATTRIBUTION

  • All entries must be submitted in the author or authors’ own name(s).
  • Submissions on behalf of an institution or firm are not permitted.

JOINT AUTHORSHIP
  • Joint authorship is permitted.
  • Each co-author’s personal information must be submitted along with the essay.
    • Our online entry form (preferred) allows every author to submit his/her personal information along with the essay.
    • Essays submitted in print must include a separate, signed entry form for each author along with the essay in the same envelope.
    • Incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • The IFC and Financial Times will not be held liable for any attribution oversights.

INELIGIBILTY
  • Current employees (and their relatives) of the World Bank Group (WBG) or the Financial Times are ineligible.
    • Relatives include: spouse or domestic partner, parent, sibling, half-sibling, child, aunt or uncle, niece or nephew.
  • Active WBG short-term consultants (STCs) may participate provided that:
    • Their essays do not contain information gathered or accessed as a result of their WBG employment.
    • They are not relatives of permanent WBG employee
