Our ProjectsRenewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF)The Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (REEF) was the first global financing vehicle dedicated to investing in renewable energy (grid and off-grid) and energy efficiency projects in developing countries. In early 2005, REEF was restructured as a simpler facility renamed Sustainable Energy Facility (SEF) to allow GEF funds to meet the need to provide financing and technical assistance to small and medium sized renewable energy and energy efficiency projects. SEF was built on lessons learned from REEF and other assessments of the renewable market and was kept as consistent as possible with the original REEF project. Sustainable Energy Facility (SEF)The Sustainable Energy Facility (SEF) is a US$14 million global fund to finance investments in and technical assistance to renewable energy and energy efficiency enterprises. It was also developed to make minority equity and quasi-equity investments in profitable, commercially viable private companies and projects in sectors that include:
SEF's unique expertise and experience allows for the opportunity to train, encourage and finance such entrepreneurs. Success is driven by E+Co channeling the resources and services down to the entrepreneur. Follow-on investment in successful enterprises offers the promise of sustainability, focus and scale. Ultimately, the goal for SEF is to enable successful enterprise investments to expand into more mature projects. Project contacts:
