Financed by the International Finance Corporation, a cleaner production audit of four hotels in Mali and Burkina Faso revealed that energy and water savings could increase the hotels' net profit by about 50%.
China: Why electronic goods will soon grow greener in China
By investing in MBA Polymers, the IFC helped bring to China — the second-largest consumer of plastics in the world — the first technology that can recycle on a commercial production scale highly mixed waste streams of high value plastics. IFC invested $1.2 million in equity in MBA Polymers to develop and operate a joint venture plastic recycling facility in Guangzhou, China. Chinese computer manufacturers are already using recycled resin to manufacture new computers.

IFC's collaboration with WaterHealth International has leveraged small entrepreneurs to bring clean drinking water to more than 266,000 people in India, Sri Lanka, and the Philippines. IFC invested $1.2 million in equity.
Tanzania: A sustainable agribusiness model in Africa
By financing Kickstart, IFC has helped 3,600 Tanzanian farmers to increase their annual revenue by $1,400 whilst establishing in Africa a sustainable business model to provide more farmers with a way of increasing yields in an environmentally friendly manner. This is turning subsistence farms into environmentally sustainable and commercially healthy small businesses.
