IFC Publishes Lessons Learned on Solar Energy
"Selling Solar: Lessons From More than a Decade of IFC's Experiences" finds that, to be successful, investments in solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies must acknowledge different market segments and adapt their products and financing accordingly. The study also finds that solar PV programs still require subsidies to be viable. Finally, the study explains how IFC is now moving towards supporting programs that deploy a mix of different technologies, rather than concentrating solely on solar PV.
