Brief

Mr Mann took up the appointment as the Founding President of RMIT International University Vietnam, Vietnam’s only foreign university, in July 2002. Prior to this appointment, Mr Mann was Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, a position he held for just over four years. Mr Mann commenced his career as journalist at The Australian newspaper, before moving to diplomacy. He subsequently had postings as a diplomat to Japan, Cambodia, Italy, China, Indonesia, Consul General to Thailand, France and Ambassador to Laos. During his postings to Laos and Vietnam, he supervised the building of the two bridges over Mekong River. Mr Mann was also appointed Chief Executive Officer responsible for international television at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Sydney in 1994. In 1997, he took on a similar position with the Seven Network in Australia.
