Advisory Projects in Estonia

In 1993 and 1997, The Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS), a joint facility of IFC and the World Bank, reviewed the investment climate in Estonia. In 1998, FIAS helped the Government to develop a national investment promotion strategy, identifying measures to attract foreign direct investment and enhance Estonia's export-generating capacity.

In the financial sector, IFC contributed to a study of private pension funds in the Baltics as part of the World Bank's effort to formulate the country's pension reform strategy.

Through its Technical Assistance Trust Funds Program and with funding from the governments of Sweden, Norway, and the Netherlands, IFC also supported a review of investment opportunities in private healthcare in the Baltics, provided post-privatization assistance to a textile manufacturer, and offered advisory services to a shipping company.
