Advisory Projects in Poland

IFC has undertaken many advisory assignments in Poland. IFC designed a restructuring and privatization strategy for the cement and lime sectors. We assisted in the restructuring and privatization of Swarzedzkie Fabryki Mebli, the first underwritten public offering and the first foreign portfolio investment in Poland. These privatizations brought $217 million in revenue and $209 million in investment commitments to the economy.

IFC has reviewed regulatory issues in leasing and housing finance, and has advised the Plenipotentiary of Pension Reform on private sector involvement in that sector.

In 1989, the Foreign Investment Advisory Service (FIAS), a joint facility of IFC and the World Bank, helped establish the Polish Agency for Foreign Investments, and co-founded and managed the Polish Business Advisory Service to provide business advisory assistance to SMEs.
