Common and preferred stock, subordinated loans, and convertible debt instruments. IFC is never the largest shareholder in a project, nor does it take an active role in an investee company's management. However, we can participate in the company's board.
Guarantees
International or local oan and bond guarantees to broaden our clients' access to capital markets at reduced costs and extended maturities.
Syndicated Loans
Our strong reputation in project appraisal and preferred creditor status allow us to syndicate medium-term loans from commercial banks
Underwritings, Private Placements, and Equity Funds
Assistance to private companies in emerging economies to gain access to international capital markets through securities underwriting and placement activities.
Risk Management
Assistance to private companies in emerging economies to bridge the credit gap between its clients and the market, giving companies access to products which they may not be able to obtain directly due to credit or country risk.
Advisory Services and Technical Assistance
Advice to governments on improving the overall investment climate and on developing legislation in specific sectors. Advice to companies on strengthening management and production practices, financial planning, corporate governance, and environmental and social guidelines. Most of these activities are sponsored by donor governments.
