IFC has been in Cambodia since 1997, financing private sector investment, mobilizing private capital, and promoting private sector development through products and services that benefit the country’s micro, small, and medium enterprises.
Our Advisory Services program targets improvements in governance, access to finance, agribusiness supply chains, and private investment in power and transportation infrastructure, among others. IFC’s Advisory Services in Cambodia are delivered primarily through MPDF, a private sector development initiative in Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao PDR, whose donors are Australia, Canada, the European Union, Finland, IFC, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and Switzerland.
IFC coordinates a government supported private sector forum, where meaningful dialogue between the government and Cambodia’s business community helps address business environment issues.
IFC’s investments in Cambodia target commercially-viable businesses that serve as models for good corporate governance practices. IFC partners with businesses that are committed to meeting international environmental and social sustainability standards, as well as good governance. IFC’s clients attract international experts, buyers, and investors.
To date, IFC has invested US$ 91 million in Cambodia, and expects to raise annual investment from an average of US$ 20 million to more than US$ 50 million by 2010
