Data quality is essential
To be able to use IFC's development results effectively to make management decisions and drive performance, and for accurate external reporting, it is critically important that the data we capture in our Development Outcome Tracking System (DOTS) is accurate.
Multiple layers of quality control and accountability
Ultimate responsibility for data quality lies with IFC's industry departments. This approach is deliberate: only project staff familiar with an operation can collect relevant data and track results accurately. However, as a system that relies heavily on project teams to self-rate their projects, it is important to have reliable mechanisms in place that can help ensure the accuracy of entries and provide accountability for measuring and reporting development results.
