The forest products sector plays a key role in removing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere through photosynthesis. Studies show that each cubic meter of new forest growth removes nearly 1 ton of CO2 from the atmosphere. IFC invests in forest-based sequestration projects, both as stand-alone plantations and in association with pulp or wood sector projects.
