New clean technologies need to be developed and disseminated throughout the world in order to effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions. One barrier to investments in clean technologies is the difficulty of obtaining financing; investments are typically smaller, higher risk, and more difficult to evaluate than those in more established businesses. But investing in clean technologies can be good business, including in emerging markets, and IFC is keen to prove it.
