Training Workshop to CBRC on Energy Efficiency Market Potential in China’s Cement Industry Held in Beijing

CHUEE team was invited by the Statistics Department of China Banking Regulatory Commission (CBRC) to deliver a training workshop on energy efficiency market potential in China’s Cement Industry on April 1, 2008.

The Report on Energy Efficiency Improvement Potential and Opportunities in China’s Cement Industry launched last summer by the IFC CHUEE program has drawn attention from CBRC.

The Statistics Department is CBRC’s designated department in charge of policy and regulation research under the joint initiative of “Green Credit Policy”, which was launched by the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), People’s Bank of China and China Banking Regulatory Commission in July 2007.

In his opening speech, Mr. Liu Chunhang, Director-General of the Statistics Department, summarized the progress in developing guidelines for commercial banks on energy efficiency financing products. He looked forward to more cooperation with IFC CHUEE team in sustainable financing.

CHUEE team, led by the Program Manager, Calvin Xu, shared the updated sectorial information and market research finding with CBRC participants.

Mr. Dai Cunfeng, Associate Operations Officer of CHUEE program is introducing the prospective of EE market potential, energy consumption and EE potential analysis in China’s cement industry.


Mr. Zhang Dianjun, the Senior Engineer of CHUEE program, is explaining major EE technologies applied in China’s cement industry.





Mr. Calvin Xu, the Program Manager, is sharing market opportunities of EE financing in China’s cement industry.





Around 70 CBRC officials from 8 major CBRC branches attended the training.
