May 26-28, 17 colleagues from 9 Country Offices and IFC departments concerned joined CHUEE team a knowledge-sharing session in Beijing. On the first day of the event, each CHUEE program team member was telling their stories and lessons learned with guest participants. All participants were brainstorming a strategy for further promoting sustainable financing. In his welcoming remarks, Mr. Michael Ipson, Country Manager for China and Mongolia noted: "CHUEE program has enable our partner banks to start re-evaluating their credit approval process. CHUEE has opened a whole bunch of opportunities for IFC and its partner banks. The earlier we start the initiative in other country offices, the better impacts we will get in helping reduce greenhouse gas emission reduction."
On the second day, colleagues working on similar sustainable financing initiatives from other countries shared their experiences and knowledge. Speakers include those from energy efficiency technical assistance and financing programs implemented or being formulated in Russia, Hungary, South Africa, Vietnam, Indonesia and Philippines. A roadmap for coordinating global cooperation in sustainable financing was discussed, for example, the alignment of investment services and advisory services, cooperation between departments for design and delivery of EE programs and building knowledge management system. All participants commented this event as “timely, useful and fruitful”. Contacts and communications between team members are expected ongoing. Three new CHUEE members received orientation training on the third day. |
