Biography

Professor Metin Cakmakci is the Medical Director of the Acibadem Healthcare Group, responsible for medical services provided by over 500 physicians at 3 hospitals and 3 outpatient centers. He is also the Chairman of the Department of General Surgery. Professor Cakmakci earned his medical degree from Hacettepe University, Ankara Turkey in 1981 and completed his general surgery residency at the same institution in 1986. He was appointed associate professor in 1989 and professor in 1996 at Hacettepe University.

Throughout his career, Professor Cakmakci has worked at various institutions in Europe and the US. Professor Cakmakci, whose main areas of interest include surgical infections, oncological surgery and breast surgery, has published articles in over 100 national and international journals and is at the editorial board of various journals. He is a council member of the European Society of Surgical Infections and a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American College of Physician Executives.

Professor Cakmakci is involved in organizational aspects of healthcare and health systems administration and has completed a Health Institutions Administration graduate program. Overseeing Medical Standardization and Quality Department in Acibadem, he leads the quality efforts throughout the group.
