Southeast Europe Corporate Governance Workshop for the Media - Belgrade, 11-13 May, 2006

To help promote a better understanding of corporate governance issues and practices through the media, the Forum and IFC-PEPSE held a 3-day workshop in Belgrade from May 11 to 13, 2006 specifically designed for journalists.

About 20 journalists specialized in financial and economic issues from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro actively participated in an intensive program which included presentations by local and international experts, case studies, practical exercises and on-site visits to the Belgrade Stock Exchange and the B52 private TV broadcasting center.

Following the success of this workshop, the Forum is planning similar initiatives in other regions around the world. This workshop and future events will further more serve as a basis for developing “Corporate Governance Tools and Resources for the Media”. The Forum is engaged in discussion with the Reuters Foundation to support this work.
