We are pleased to announce that IFC's 8th Annual Global Private Equity Conference will be held jointly with EMPEA (Emerging Markets Private Equity Association) on May 11–12, 2006 at The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington, D.C.

2005 was a remarkable year for emerging markets private equity as fundraising for the asset class tripled, driven largely by a strong rise in exits and cash returned to international investors. The numbers were up for all regions. Perhaps even more telling, a picture of the asset class is emerging that is fundamentally different from before: emerging markets private equity is no longer an “exotic” asset class. GPs and LPs alike are breaking down the borders of investing, recognizing that globalization is transforming the private equity business.

The Annual Global Private Equity Conference brings together various private equity players - emerging markets fund managers, institutional investors, international development institutions, banks, academics and others who are active in the global private equity industry in the emerging markets. The goal is to present participants with analyses of key trends and discuss issues relevant to the industry. Last year, IFC's Conference and EMPEA's Symposium drew more than 300 participants. This year, we are combining forces to bring you an stronger program, starting with a keynote address by David M. Rubenstein, Founding Partner and Managing Director of The Carlyle Group.
