As a key part of our mission, IFC supports socially responsible private health care organizations in developing countries. In recent years, we have grown to become the world s largest investor in the private health sector in emerging markets. We have invested $1.3 billion in more than 80 health care companies in 35 countries. These projects typically include private hospitals, diagnostic centers, HMOs and primary care providers. Our investments support employment for 55,000 people and treatment of 5.5 million patients. | Duties and Accountabilities: | | IFC is seeking to recruit a Private Health Sector Specialist to join our expanding team. Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the development of IFC s health sector strategy
- Participating in business development activities
- Assessing potential projects – including commercial, operational and service quality aspects
- Supervising our health care portfolio of companies
- Providing expert advice to clients on key aspects of their operations and performance. | Selection Criteria: | | The requirements for the role include:
- A deep knowledge of the dynamics of private health sector organizations
- An advanced degree in health services management or an appropriate combination of training and experience
- 7+ years experience in health care management. (Significant international exposure, including experience of working in developing countries, will be a key advantage)
- Excellent communication skills in English. (Knowledge of one other major business language a plus)
The successful candidate is likely to have gained their experience within a large commercial health care organization or consultancy organization.
The position is based in Washington DC, with considerable travel to developing countries. |
