The Global Transaction Team (GTT) Program is a rotational program designed to offer Associate Investment Officers a broad base of industry and regional experience upon which to build a career in IFC. Participants undertake two or three assignments of about twelve months each in Washington, DC or in IFC’s regional offices. At the end of the program, participants are placed in a regional office and begin to develop a specialized career path. IFC offers formal training, on-the-job training, a mentoring and numerous other opportunities for professional and personal development.

IFC recruits for the GTT Program globally through a rigorous and competitive process. We are looking for highly qualified and motivated professionals with leadership potential, skills in international corporate and/or project finance, and passion for sustainable private sector development.

Responsibilities
As an Associate Investment Officer, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary team focused on identifying investment opportunities, executing transactions and actively managing portfolio projects. In this role, your objective will be to maximize the impact of IFC’s intervention and contribute to the development of our countries of operation by executing innovative, developmental, and profitable investments for IFC. Specific responsibilities include:



  • Analyze operational and financial performance of potential client companies to identify opportunities, address risks and recommend investment options


  • Evaluate the benefits and risks of new transactions and develop innovative and appropriate financial structures


  • Participate in negotiations


  • Supervise project implementation, including disbursements


  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and other stakeholders


  • Coordinate closely with social, environmental, and technical assistance colleagues to add value to our clients' businesses and achieve sustainable development impact

    Qualifications


  • Academic achievement demonstrated by an MBA or equivalent education


  • Work experience (three to six years) in finance, including investment banking, project finance, private equity, corporate finance, portfolio management, or financial consulting


  • Strong analytical and credit assessment skills, as well as solid understanding of accounting and financial statement analysis


  • Knowledge of relevant industry sector trends, preferably with experience in emerging markets


  • Sound business judgment and problem solving, negotiation and commercial skills


  • Ability to develop new business and effectively focus on client needs


  • Enthusiasm for working in multi-cultural teams and across borders


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English; fluency in other languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Russian) preferred


  • Genuine commitment to sustainable private sector development


  • Willingness to travel extensively and geographic flexibility

    Application and Hiring Process
    Applications are received on-line once per year, typically beginning in mid-August and closing at the end of September. In addition, IFC visits business schools and interviews candidates on campus. Following first-round interviews, selected candidates are invited to Washington for panel interviews and a case study analysis. Final decisions are communicated to candidates by the end of December. Selected candidates typically begin at IFC in September.
