IFC commissioned Corporate Citizenship to provide IFC's management with external assurance and commentary on certain nonfinancial aspects of the 2008 Annual Report, specifically economic, social, and environmental sustainability and development effectiveness information contained in the report. IFC's management has prepared the report and is solely responsible for its content.
Corporate Citizenship's objectives were to review specific aspects of the report's content and presentation, to conduct selected checks of underlying corporate records, and to provide the nonfinancial assurance statement. As part of the assignment, Corporate Citizenship examined IFC's Development Outcome Tracking System (DOTS), which measures the development effectiveness of IFC's investments and advisory services.
A detailed note describing IFC's relationship with Corporate Citizenship and the assurance process appears at the end of the statement. A shorter version of this statement is included in the printed IFC Annual Report.
